About the School

The School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Policy (GPEP) is a dynamic research and learning environment based at University College Dublin, Ireland’s premier university. GPEP is the only university department in Ireland specialising in research and teaching in environmental policy and economics. To address the pressing international, national and local challenges in implementing sustainable development and improving quality of life via environmental policy and spatial planning, GPEP endeavours to provide the very best in terms of multidisciplinary teaching and research, and, in doing so, playing an important role in contributing to evidence-based policymaking and practice. Job requirements

Candidates should hold an MA or MSc degree in economics, econometrics or related fields. Depending on their background and prior training, candidates may be required to complete additional graduate courses in their first year of appointment. Research should lead to a PhD thesis as well as to publications in international refereed journals.

Remuneration and facilities

Funding will cover fees and a stipend in the range of EUR15,000-19,000 p.a. (net). Additional funds may be available for travelling to international conferences and research visits. Positions are full-time with funding contingent on annual evaluations. Successful candidates will be provided with computing and office facilities and will be joining a dynamic team of young researchers.
